Bipindi Subdivision: Kribi Port DG, Patrice Melom, named leader of Evuzok people.

The Director General, DG, of the Port Authority of Kribi, PAK, Patrice Melom, has been crowned leader of the Evuzok people in Nsola village, Bipindi Subdivision of the South Region.

Melom was crowned and presented during a recent ceremony that took place in Nsola.



With his new role as leader of the Evuzok people, he will guide their affairs to enhance local development. He now goes by the title of ‘Asuzoa’ of the Evuzok people.

Melom’s community recognition comes within the context of the 5th edition of the Evuzok Socio-Cultural and Sports Festival. 

The festival which went underway on July 15 will end on August 15. Events associated with it will also take place in Yaounde. 

The cultural festival and decoration of Patrice Melom took place in the presence of the Divisional Officer, DO, of Bipindi, Ndjala Medjo Roger. 

During the ceremony, elite offered gifts to outstanding students and other materials to the community. A football competition was also launched to keep the population busy.

Reacting to the recognition, Patrice Melom expressed gratitude to his people for giving him the pride to be their leader. He promised to do everything within his power to promote the wellbeing of Evozubok.

In the meantime, as part of activities to mark 5th edition of the Evuzok Socio-cultural and Sports Festival, Festizock, there was a cultural feast in Yaounde, yesterday. It was organised in partnership with the International Centre for Cultural and Artistic Heritage, CIPCA.

Before yesterday’s show in Yaounde, the festival had been taking place in Nsola village. To also mark this year’s cultural show and community conviviality, the ceremony was marked by an exhibition of the heritage of the people.

It also touched on the Nyamodo (Great Woman) and Nyaminga (Great man) that mark the history of the culture of the Evozok people.

It was an opportunity for visitors and the youngster generation to discover their history and evolution. Participants were treated to archives especially those from Spanish anthropologist, Lluis Mallart.
