Tinto Council budgets over 987 million FCFA to priotise dev’t in 2025.

Councillors of the Tinto Council Upper Bayang Subdivision, Manyu Division of the South West Region, have adopted an ambitious budget of 987,710, 000 FCFA, balanced in revenue and expenditure, as budget 2025 fiscal year. 

The sum was adopted during council held at Tinto Council chambers on Wednesday, December 18, 2024.



The session was presided at by the Mayor of Tinto Council, Sesseku Mayor Etchu Joseph Eyong. 

Deliberations unfolded under watchful eyes of the Senior Divisional Officer, SDO, of Manyu, Awounfack Alienou Yves Betrand. It was also attended by SDO’s close collaborators as well as other local authorities.  

Opening the session, the Sesseku Mayor Etchu Joseph Eyong appealed to councillors to shun hate, backbiting and unite for the development of the municipality. 

While acknowledging the contributions of all the councillors in pushing development in the municipality. Mayor Etchu said in 2025, the council will open and equip a mortuary, construct a sawmill, sand quarry as well as purchase equipment like dump truck to boost hygiene and sanitation.

He said the council also envisages purchasing a grader which will open up and improve farm-to-market roads in municipality, greatly boost internal revenue collection.

While promising to meet up with the staff salaries for the month of December to enable them spend Christmas, the mayor outlined that the council executives have been able to meet up with all the salaries and arrears of workers of the council since taking up office in 2020.

Among other achievements, the mayor mentioned the supply of materials to 45 livestock farmers, the construction of the Bakebe Tinto Dschang Fontem road, rehabilitation of some boreholes and street lights within the municipality. 

The municipal authority then thanked the administration for always standing firm behind the council executive and called on the councillors to shun away from vices that will jeopardise the smooth functioning of the institution.

Mayor gets prestigious recognition 

Meanwhile, Mayor Sesseku Etchu was decorated with a humanitarian award for his levelheadedness and maturity in which he has continued to pilot the affairs of the Tinto Council. 

The award was conferred to him by the humanitarian nongovernmental organisation, Grass to Grace, G2G, affiliated to the United Nations Cisri Mission Cameroon led by HRM Thomas Fotang. 

The SDO of Manyu, Awounfack Alienou Yves Betrand, saluted the resilience of Tinto Council and urged the mayor and his team to priotise income-generating projects which will enable the council continue to serve the population. 

The SDO also reminded the councillors of the 2025 presidential elections, which he said the Council must move towards taking disposition. However, the SDO frowned at abandonment of projects within the municipality. he warned against the award of contracts to unscrupulous contractors in the future. The administrator congratulated population of the municipality for the fight against insecurity and other vices.

The budget which stands at 987,710,000 FCFA has witnessed an increase of 165,360,000 FCFA as compared to that of 2024, representing 20.1% increase. 

Recurrent revenue stands at 517,710,000 FCFA while investment revenue stands at 470, 000,000 FCFA. Recurrent expenditure represent 52.42% while investment expenditure represents 47.58% and staff cost represent 24.28%.
