The Far North Regional Council has taken a giant leap towards transforming the region with a record-breaking budget of 10,070,676,469 FCFA for 2025.

The budget, the highest since the council's inception in December 2020, was adopted during a three-day session, setting the stage for unprecedented growth and development.

The session, opened by President of the Regional Council, Daniel Kalbassou, under the watchful eyes of Governor Midjiyawa Bakari, brought together 70 out of 90 regional councillors. The budget is allocated for projects in various domains, including education, health, and the environment.

"We have devoted approximately 1 billion FCFA for education and 900 million FCFA for health. For roads, we have allocated around 600 FCFA to 700 million FCFA," Kalbassou explained.

He also announced innovations for the year 2025 in the areas of tourism, public works, environment, and agriculture.
Specifically, these innovations include the launch of the Regional Tourism Office to promote and develop the region's rich tourism sector, the creation of a public works company to oversee and execute public works projects, the continuation of a reforestation project and the establishment of a modern agric scheme to support and promote agricultural development in the region.

Kalbassou also expressed satisfaction with the council's achievements, citing the distribution of 13,000 desks to schools and the equipment of 32 district hospitals in the region in the past three years.

Far North Governor, Midjiyawa Bakari, on his part, emphasised that more work needs to be done, while appreciating the progress made so far. He noted that the Regional Council's efforts will continue to drive development projects in the Region.
