This was during a ceremony to mark the 2025 edition of the Mandela Day. The event took place at the headquarters of the association, DV Lancez-vous on July 24.

The 2025 Mandela Day was observed under the theme: “It’s still in our hands to combat poverty and inequity".

An official of MTN Cameroon said this year’s theme ties with the growing global disparities, humanitarian challenges, and climate-induced displacements recorded in recent times.

The Senior Manager Corporate Affairs-MTN Cameroon, Marie Germaine Ndzié, stated that action is part of the Company’s ongoing commitment to social impact through its Corporate Social Responsibility, CSR efforts.

“We are deeply inspired by the spirit of Ubuntu, I am because we are, which Nelson Mandela championed,” she said.

Ndzie further noted that: “Our partnership today is not a one-off gesture but part of a long-term vision to create inclusive, connected communities”.

The representative of the Ministry of Social Affairs at the event hailed the public-private synergy to enhance inclusion.

The official said the gesture, aligns with the Ministry’s mission to promote the rights and welfare of persons with disabilities.

By giving children with disabilities the tools they need to thrive, stakeholders are not only affirming their dignity but strengthening the social fabric of Cameroon.

Though celebrated on July 18 which is the date when Mandela was born, the day has become a moment to celebrate the leader’s legacy and achievements.
