Techpreneur pushes Cameroon’s ambition in robotics, Artificial Intelligence.

Jacques Eone: Tech entrepreneur

Cameroonian tech entrepreneur, Jacques Eone, who is also President of the Cameroon Robotics Association and co-founder of Sparte Robotics, has again projected the country into the global innovation map.

He represented Cameroon at the Future Innovation Tech Expo, known as FIX 2025.

The event held from October 22 to 25 in Daegu, South Korea. The trip offered an opportunity for the tech guru to revisit his expanding portfolio of projects in robotics and Artificial Intelligence, sectors which, he believes, can accelerate Cameroon’s technological transformation if properly supported.

At FIX 2025, held on the theme: “The Future Already Begun: All on AI”. Eone said Cameroon’s participation was part of ongoing cooperation with South Korea.

“Our presence aimed not only to consolidate Cameroon’s position, but also that of Africa in the sphere of ambitious nations in the field of robotics and Artificial Intelligence,” he explained.

He highlighted South Korea’s approach to emerging technologies, insisting that the country focuses on using robots as collaborative partners rather than replacements for human labour.

“In a context of underemployment, robotics must be perceived not as a threat, but as an opportunity for progress,” he cautioned.

During the expo, Eone and his team explored potential applications for Cameroon, particularly in logistics, industrial maintenance and precision agriculture. He said the delegation established strategic contacts with a number of partners, which could reinforce the growth of the robotics ecosystem in the country.

The tech entrepreneur believes Cameroon can become a leading player in robotics and AI on the continent, but insists this will require a long-term national strategy.

“We need a clear vision, youth training and support to local technology companies. South Korea built champions like Hyundai by allowing them to diversify into several sectors. That model should inspire a ‘Cameroonian dream’,” he said.

Eone equally underscored the need for stronger support from both government and the private sector in skills development and project execution.

“Robotics is not just about machines; it is a philosophy of progress. Nothing is impossible for those who persevere with vision and discipline. Cameroonian youth must understand that the future is built with skills and collective will,” he went on

As co-founder and CEO of Sparte Robotics, over time, it should be said, has steadily built a reputation as one of the country’s leading promoters of applied engineering and robotics.

Created in 2021, the company manufactures robotic instruments, drones and automated systems used in industrial production and security. It equally offers electronic maintenance services and operates a research and development centre focused on robotics and AI.

Eone had also led the Cameroon Robotics Association, established in 2018 to popularise robotics across Africa. The association runs free training programmes for secondary school learners, introducing them to Artificial Intelligence and engineering tools meant to equip the next generation of innovators.

Beyond these initiatives, Eone is a founding partner of CENTHORUS Corporation, a software engineering firm, and founder of Alkacun, an e-commerce platform launched in 2021 offering distribution and auction-based purchasing options.

To boost innovation among young people, he created ELVIATECH, considered the largest robotics competition in Central Africa. The annual event brings together thousands of students, researchers, companies and institutions to design robotics solutions around specific themes.

“The goal of ELVIATECH is to bring together teams from several countries to exchange skills and build robotic instruments tailored to a given theme,” he said
