Sports minister lauds Eseme for successful exploits at Islamic Games.

The Minister of Sports and Physical Education, MINSEP, Prof Narcisse Mouelle Kombi, has lauded Cameroonian sprint star, Emmanuel Eseme, for his successful exploits at the recently concluded Islamic Solidarity Games.

The minister made the remarks Monday, January 5.

This was during an audience he granted the Cameroonian athlete, who also doubled as the captain and flagbearer of Team Cameroon at the Games in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The audience took place in the newly renovated conference hall of the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education.

As per officials, the audience follows a request by the athlete, who may be unavailable for the official reception planned for the entire Cameroonian delegation due to a tight international competition schedule.

During the meeting, the Minister congratulated Emmanuel Eseme for his outstanding performances at the Games, where he clinched a gold medal in the 200 metres and a bronze medal in the 100 metres.

Eseme’s exploits were among the highlights of Cameroon’s campaign in Riyadh and played a decisive role in the country’s overall medal haul.

Team Cameroon returned from the Islamic Solidarity Games with 10 medals, including two gold, two silver, and six bronze, a performance that reflects the growing competitiveness of Cameroonian athletes on the international stage.

Cameroon was represented at the games by a contingent of 51 athletes.

The tally helped the country clinch 20th place globally and 7th among African nations in the final standings.

The 6th edition of the Islamic Solidarity Games, hosted in Riyadh from November 7 to 21, 2025, convened more than 3,000 athletes from 57 countries under the banner of unity, faith, and sporting excellence.

Cameroon’s delegation competed in nine main sporting disciplines including athletics, judo, karate, fencing, ju-jitsu, para-athletics, para-powerlifting, table tennis, and weightlifting.

Prof Mouelle Kombi used the occasion to reiterate government’s sports policy, stressing the State’s unwavering commitment to supporting sport development.

He underlined that ministry will continue to provide financial and institutional support to all national civilian sports federations, without exception, in order to enhance Cameroon’s visibility and influence in global sporting arenas.
