At oath-taking ceremony: NW Regional Assembly executive pledges to serve without discrimination.

NW regional authorities, others after swearing in ceremony

The newly elected members of the Executive Council of the North West Regional Assembly have taken a commitment to serve the interest of the entire Region without discrimination. 

They took the oath during a swearing-in ceremony in Bamenda, held at the North West Court of Appeal on Wednesday, January 7, 2026. 



The solemn ceremony was jointly carried out by the President of the Court of Appeal for the North West, Chief Justice Nyajro Anna Povi, and the Procureur General of the Region, Chief Justice Njie Albert. 

Present during the event were authorities including North West Governor, Adolphe Lele Lafrique; Public Independent Conciliator, Tamfu Simon Fai; top security officials, regional delegates, and others.

The new executive members of the Regional Assembly for the next mandate who took the oath included the body’s President, Prof Fru Angwafo III, Vice President Fon Nfor Amidu Nji, Commissioner in Charge of Economic Development, Ghejung Awunti, Commissioner in charge of Health and Social Development, Fondufe Lydia, Commissioner in charge of Education, Sports and Cultural Development, Anyambot Emmanuel, Secretary I Mvo Zenobia, Secretary II, Fon Zofoa Abubaka and Questor, Waindim Jude.

During the event, Justice Njie Albert urged the Executive Council members to make life better for the common people, as they commence the five-year journey.

The Procureur General also reminded them that the oath should keep resonating in their minds, as they serve the population diligently.

He added that they will face obstacles, but they must be resilient and stay committed to the task, especially as the region is still faced with the ongoing sociopolitical conflict.

 

Prof Fru Angwafo says ready for task 

Speaking after taking the oath, the President of the North West Regional Assembly, Prof Fru Angwafo III who is on his second mandate, assured that he and team are ready to serve the people, despite the difficulties ahead.

Prof Fru noted that the second mandate will focus more on community projects and youth empowerment in the digital transformation.

“We want to tell the population that we used the first five years to understand what the development of the region looks like. This time, we want to work with all of them to deepen community dialogue, community projects, and especially so that the young can join the digital economy both nationally and globally,” Prof Fru said.

Elected on November 30, 2025, the executive of the North West Regional Assembly includes four old members and four new members.
