Samuel Oum Gouet

Former Apejes of Mfou standout, Samuel Oum Gouet, has agreed to join Lithuanian top-flight club, FC Hegelmann.

The Cameroonian agreed the deal ahead of the 2025/26 football season. The move marks a new chapter in the midfielder’s European journey.



At 28, the defensive midfielder, arrives at Hegelmann following a season with Politehnica Iași in Romania, where he made 35 appearances in all competitions and scored once. 

The Lithuanian A Lyga side officially confirmed the arrival of Oum Gouet on January 10, 2026, with the midfielder set to wear the number 10 shirt for FC Hegelmann.

Oum Gouet joins Hegelmann at a time when the club is preparing for European competition, including participation in the UEFA Europa Conference League qualifiers. 

In his announcement, Oum Gouet expressed satisfaction at joining his new club, describing it as an honour and a fresh opportunity to contribute to what he hopes will be a historic season

Oum Gouet began his career with APEJES Academy in Cameroon before moving to Europe.

He spent several seasons with SCR Rheindorf Altach in Austria, making close to 100 appearances and establishing himself as a reliable defensive presence. 

In 2021, he signed a three-year contract with KV Mechelen in Belgium, before moving to Yverdon-Sport in Switzerland in 2023, where he competed in the Swiss Super League.

Prior to joining Hegelmann, Oum Gouet spent the 2024/25 season with Politehnica Iași in Romania’s Liga I. 

Across his European club career, his versatility and defensive discipline have been hallmarks of his game, contributing both in midfield shielding and occasional defensive roles.

Oum Gouet’s international journey with Cameroon began in 2016, and he has since earned 25 caps without scoring. 

He made his full senior debut in a friendly against Japan in October 2020 and was selected for Cameroon’s squad at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, where he played in matches against Switzerland and Serbia. 

In 2022, Oum Gouet was also part of the Cameroon squad that secured third place at the Africa Cup of Nations.
