Turkey Super Lig: Jerome Onguene named in Team of The Week.

Onguene provided an assist during Eyupspor 3-1 victory at rivals, Alanyaspor, in the Super Lig. This was during matchday 20. 

Thanks to his assist, Eyupsport successfully staged a second half comeback in the game. The team trailed to Alanyaspor barely three minutes into the game when Guven Yalcin opened the scoring. 

But Onguene and his teammates were the better side in the second half scoring three times to secure a win. Talha Ulvan first equalized before Charles-Andre Raux Yao and Prince Ampem scored late to ensure they secure maximum points. 

It was the second assist in a row for the Cameroonian defender in the Turkish top tier. He had provided an assist in his team’s 2-2 stalemate against Besiktas. 

The victory means Eyupspor are two points above the relegation zone. They are ranked 15th of the 18-club league with 18 points from 20 matches. 

Onguene is one of three Eyupspor players named in the Turkey Super Lig matchday 20 TOTW. He joins fellow teammates, defender Talha Ulvan and goalkeeper Jankat Yilmax on the squad. 

There are also three players from Galatasaray on the team. They are; Nigeria talented striker Victor Osimhen, Gabriel Sara and Eren Elmali. 

Besiktas duo Vaclav Cerny and Orkun Kokcu also made the cut while former Real Madrid midfielder Marco Asensio of Fenerbahce, Alexandru Maxim of Gaziantep FK, GFK, and Andre Onana’s Trabzonspor teammate Arseniy Batagov also made the cut in the TOTW. 

Onguene will be hoping to make inspire himself from his nomination and recent display when his side faces Basaksehir on February 8. 

It should be recalled that Onguene joined Eyupspor on January 13, 2026 on loan on loan from Romanian outfit FC Petrolul Ploiesti.
