Renowned bilingual Master of Ceremony, MC, Steve Fonkam, has successfully organised and hosted the second edition of the MC Academy 2.0 Masterclass, solidifying his position as one of Cameroon’s leading figures in event hosting and professional development.

The three-day intensive programme took place from June 25 to 27, 2026, at the prestigious Krystal Palace Hotel in Douala, drawing over 50 enthusiastic participants eager to sharpen their skills in the dynamic world of event hosting.

Participants, ranging from aspiring young talents to seasoned enthusiasts, converged at the luxury venue with a shared passion for mastering the art of the microphone.

The masterclass offered comprehensive training on the tactics and nuances of hosting events across various genres, with particular emphasis on high-profile occasions such as weddings and award ceremonies.

Through hands-on sessions and expert guidance, attendees were equipped with practical tools to elevate their performance, stage presence, and audience engagement.

A highlight of the programme was the presence of distinguished keynote speakers who brought diverse expertise to the table. Aimé Catherine Moukouri, a respected journalist, television host, and professional MC, shared invaluable insights drawn from her extensive experience in media and live event moderation.

Complementing her contributions was Willy Nyamboli, a fiscal counselor, who provided crucial knowledge on the financial aspects of the MC business — an often-overlooked but vital component for building sustainable careers in the industry.

Beyond technical training, the MC Academy 2.0 served as a holistic platform for personal development and networking. Participants exchanged ideas, forged valuable connections, and gained rich perspectives from both the speakers and their peers.

The interactive environment fostered a sense of community among “mic enthusiasts,” empowering them to view event hosting not merely as a skill, but as a professional calling that combines creativity, leadership, and business acumen.

In his closing address at the end of the programme, Steve Fonkam delivered a powerful motivational message that resonated deeply with the audience. He urged participants to recognise their immense potential and refuse to allow external circumstances to dictate their paths.

“Believe in yourselves. I am here today, but I will be so proud to see you tomorrow doing better than me,” Fonkam emphasised.

His words encouraged attendees to challenge the status quo, rewrite prevailing narratives in the industry, and pursue greatness with confidence and determination.

The success of the second edition underscores the growing demand for structured professional training in Cameroon’s events sector.

As the country’s entertainment and corporate events landscape continues to expand, initiatives like the MC Academy 2.0 play a pivotal role in nurturing the next generation of world-class Masters of Ceremony.

Organisers and participants alike described the event as transformative, with many leaving Douala energised and better prepared to take on larger roles in weddings, conferences, galas, and other major gatherings.

Steve Fonkam’s commitment to excellence and mentorship has once again proven instrumental in raising the bar for event hosting standards in Cameroon and beyond.

This edition of the MC Academy not only honed technical abilities but also instilled a mindset of resilience, ambition, and fiscal responsibility.

As participants returned to their respective communities, the ripple effects of the knowledge and inspiration gained are expected to elevate the quality of events across the nation.

With plans for future editions already generating excitement, Steve Fonkam and his academy are poised to remain at the forefront of professional MC development in Central Africa.
