The envoy of the Head of State, President Paul Biya, the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Dr Chief Joseph Dion Ngute, cheered the Indomitable Lionesses to a historic win of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, WAFCON, in Morocco yesterday.

Cameroon thrashed tournament debutants, Malawi, by three goals to zero. The Lionesses maintained superb dominance all through the game.

The Lionesses scored three goals in the first half and returned to sustain momentum in the second half of the game.

Prior to Sunday’s match, the Prime Minister had spent a good time with the team, congratulating them for their inspiring trajectory through the tournament and reminding them of Cameroon’s Indomitable spirit.

The Head of State’s envoy told the team that the President Biya, his wife, Chantal Biya; and the Cameroonian people were ready for a historic celebration.

On the instructions of the Head of State, Dion Ngute took several dispositions to put the Lionesses in good spirits.

Prior to Sunday’s game, the Prime Minister handed to the team the country’s financial support, promising more when the trophy gets to Yaounde.

Dion Ngute then again answered present at the Moulay El Hassan Stadium yesterday, watching and cheering the girls to victory.

The Lionesses fought, showing determination, aware that Dion Ngute, the foot soldier of the Head of State, bearer of good tidings, was backing them to the historic victory.

The Prime Minister had left the country early Saturday, heading a powerful delegation to Rabat where the tournament ended Sunday.

Shortly after arriving Morocco Saturday, the Prime Minister went down to business as directed by the Head of State. He held a closed door meetings with the Lionesses, delivering to them President Biya’s message word verbatim.

Dion Ngute had said Biya was proud of the exploits of the Lionesses in the tournament right up to yesterday’s final.

The Prime Minister personally took time off to congratulate every member of the team Saturday, infusing into them the spirit to fight to victory.

Other members of the Prime Minister’s delegation also watched the final of the tournament staying alert throughout the encounter.

Dion Ngute was accompanied to Rabat among others by: the Minister of Women’s Empowerment and the Family, Prof Marie Therese Abena Ondoa; the Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Prof Narcisse Mouelle Kombi; the Director of Cabinet at the Prime Minister’s Office, Balungeli Confiance Ebune.
