Cup of Cameroon: Panthere Sportive to face Dauphine Academy in final.

Panthere Sportive are defending champions of the Cup of Cameroon

West Region football club, Panthere Sportive of the Nde, will face Littoral Regional League side, AS Dauphine Academy in the final of the 2026 Cup of Cameroon.

The fixture was confirmed at the end of the semi-final matches of the annual knockout football tournament. The match was played Saturday August 15, 2026.

Holders, Panthere Sportive defeated Unisport of the Upper Nkam 2-1 in an electrifying West Regional derby. The encounter took place at the Bamendzi Stadium.

The all-Elite One clash saw both teams struggle to take the lead in the first half. Despite creating several chances, neither side could break the deadlock. They went in for the break goalless.

The game burst into life in the second half as Panthere Sportive deservedly went ahead through Saha Bekin in the 67th.

Bekin doubled the lead with nine minutes remaining before Willy Monkam halved the deficit for Unisport but could not avoid defeat for his team.

The victory puts Panthere Sportive in position to defend their Cameroon Cup crown which they won last season.

The defending champions are on the brink of securing their fourth Cup of Cameroon title. Before 2025, they had previously lifted the trophy in 1988 and 2009.

Coton Sport of Garoua was the last club to successfully defend their title in 2007 and 2008. The North Regional side had first achieved the feat 2003 and 2004.

Lion of Yaounde was the first to win back-to-back Cup of Cameroonian trophies in 1965 and 1966.

Canon Sportif also repeated the feat to win four in a row between 1975 and 1978.

The defeat on the other hand means Unisport goes for another season without a major trophy.

They let the Elite One trophy slip through their fingers despite leading the championship for large spells of the championship.

Unisport won their maiden Cup of Cameroon trophy in 2012 and have been losing finalists on three occasions in 2000, 2005 and 2011.

Dauphine Academy eyes glory

AS Dauphine Academy are through to the final of the Cup of Cameroon for the first time in their history.

They secured their qualification in style after thrashing North Regional league side Krimi FC in Bertoua.

Most of the damage was done in the first half when Yann Arthur Donfack scored a brace in 18 minutes. Joseph Akono sealed the win seven minutes after the restart.

AS Dauphine Academy will be counting on their lethal striker Yann Arthur Donfack when they face Panthere Sportive in the final.

The prolific striker is the current top goal scorer of the competition with eight goals in five matches since the start of their campaign to help the minnows to reach the final for the first time. They knocked out PWD of Bamenda in the quarter-final.

The boys of Coach Steve Kingue Ewane are aiming to stun their MTN Elite One rivals.

The Cameroon Football Federation has not yet announced the date of the Cup of Cameroon final. It should be recalled that the final also marks the end of the sports season.

AS Dauphine Academy will represent Cameroon in the CAF Confederation next season if they beat Panthere Sportive in the final.
