Ntumfon Barrister Ndangoh Tah drums effective schooling in NW, SW.

Award-winning notable and Ntumfon of the Fon of Mbengwi for the Centre, South and East Regions, Barrister Ndangoh Tah Calvin, has enjoined the population of the North West and South West Regions, to take bold moves and massively send their children to school for the 2023/2024 academic year, which kicked off nationwide yesterday.

Speaking in an interview with The Guardian Post, Barrister Tah described education as an indispensable tool for humanity, which children of the two crisis-hit Anglophone Regions should not risk missing out on.

“I am an advocate for children to go back to school. I am advocating pens and not guns. As we know, education is indispensable at all times. We cannot satisfy the education of our children on the altar of war. Our children are nothing without education. Education is a human right,” Barrister Ndangoh said.

No child, the revered lawyer said, should be deprived of such a right, terming moves against children’s right to education in the two Regions as equal to depriving the youngsters of their lives.

“No one has the right to deprive any child of his or her basic needs. The right to education is as important as the right to life. For no reason, whatsoever, should a child be deprived of education. Anybody who cares about tomorrow should send his or her children to school,” Ntumfon Barrister Ndangoh added.

The legal luminary urged parents to have a deep rethink of the future of their children. He said the future of children cannot be anchored towards a brighter destination if education is not deservedly given a priority in the agenda of those fighting in the two Anglophone Regions.

“We cannot pretend to care about the tomorrow of our children by depriving the children of the right to education. We cannot sacrifice the tomorrow of our children because of our selfish ambitions of today,” Barrister Ndangoh warned.

“It is for this reason that I am calling on all sons and daughters of the North West and South West Regions to go to school or send their children to school. All children should be sent to school. This is a cry of the children,” the notable emphasised.

Barrister Ndangoh not new to school campaigns in NW, SW

Ntumfon Barrister Ndangoh, it should be said, is not new to crusading effective schooling in the North West and South West Regions; since the start of the ongoing crisis that long morphed into an armed conflict.

In 2022, the lawyer put smiles on the faces of pupils and students in his native Mbengwi in Momo Division of the North West Region, through the donation of 3,000 textbooks.

The books from all domains of life and academic levels, were handed to the national executive of Mbengwi Village Development Association, during their meeting in Bamenda.

The consignment from the legal luminary and private detective, aimed at promoting education and the culture of reading among pupils and students was destined for the Mbengwi community library.

Barrister Ndangoh, who doubles as President of the Common Law Lawyers’ Association in the Centre, South and East Regions, had said the donation was his own little contribution to promoting education and the reading culture in his community.

He had also used the ceremony to launch a website for the village. The development-oriented legal luminary, who also doubles as the National Chairman of the International Institute of Certified Forensic Investigation Professionals, IICFIP, had told the jubilant population that the new website would serve as a platform from which credible information about Mbengwi can be gotten; especially within this era where disinformation, fake news and propaganda are rife.

He had called on Mbengwi sons and daughters to always think of developing their village and prayed for the return of peace. Barrister Ndahgoh categorically stated that peace is prerequisite for the much-needed development in Mbengwi.

He promised to do more in supporting development efforts back home. Barrister Ndahgoh called on all Mbengwi sons and daughters to exploit the textbooks, whose contents, he disclosed, were judged rich, in order to empower themselves with knowledge.

Ntumfon Barrister Ndangoh has repeatedly said, since the start of the crisis in the North West and South West Regions, that violence cannot be the solution to the crisis.

He has repeatedly called for calm and peace, urging those who have picked up arms against the state to drop their weapons and join the state in contributing to nation-building.
