At climate awareness campaign: Nonprofit organisation, CODI, leads student's pledge to protect environment.

Students receiving climate change lessons

Environmental club students of the Holy Infant High School, HIHS, in Yaounde, have pledged to be ambassadors of environmental protection in their local communities.

The students made the pledge after receiving lessons on environmental protection from the non-profit organisation, Community Outreach and Development Initiatives, CODI.

This was during a brief stop made by the environmental awareness caravan of CODI on the HIHS campus.

According to the organisers, the event is part of a broader initiative, the Clean Sweep Project, which entails transforming plastic bottles into household brooms. The event took place on Wednesday, October 23.

In a presentation by the Founder of CODI, Ichu Blessing Mbong, students received insights on the harmful effects of littering and deforestation, practices that contribute to pollution, habitat destruction, and climate change.

Emphasising the importance of responsible environmental stewardship, Mbong urged students to adopt eco-friendly practices within their communities.

The two-hour discussion also saw active participation and reflection, with students acknowledging the urgent need to protect their surroundings.
