Culture ministry receives sample copies of 'Public Finance in Cameroon'.

The Secretary General at the Ministry of Arts and Culture, MINAC, Blaise Jacques Nkene, on July 23, received a box of sample copies of the newly released book, “Public Finance in Cameroon: A Collection of Legal Texts”.



Authored by Jean Pierre Kuate, the presentation ceremony of the 3,850-page book took place at the National Museum in Yaounde.

The seven-volume collection, which delves into public finance in Cameroon, boasts a preface by the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of the Supreme State Audit Control, Mbah Acha née Fomundam Rose Ngwari.

During the ceremony, the author, Jean Pierre Kuate, expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Arts and Culture for the opportunity to present his work. 

He outlined the contents of each volume, from the Principle of Budgetary Sincerity in Volume 1, to the National Development Strategy 2020-2030 in Volume 7. 

Other volumes cover: General Framework in Public Finance, General Framework for Presenting the State’s Financial Operations Table, Public Financing, Decentralized Territorial Collectivities and Public Enterprises. 

The Sub-Director of the Economy of Books at the Ministry of Arts and Culture, Ebale Stéphane, underscored the book’s importance to Cameroon.

“It serves as a vital reference document for public fund managers and inspires good governance of our nation, particularly for researchers and students,” Ebale affirmed.

In his keynote address, the Secretary General at MINAC, Blaise Jacques Nkene lauded the author’s work and urged the department of books and reading to collaborate with Jean Pierre Kuate to facilitate the book’s official launch.

 

About the Author

Jean Pierre Kuate, hails from the West Region. He is a jurist and a retired Senior Civil Administrator. He previously served as the Head of the Local Finance Division at the then Ministry of Territorial Administration and Decentralization. 

An expert in decentralisation and local development, Jean Pierre Kuate also held positions as chief of cabinet for several government officials within the then Ministry of Territorial Administration and Decentralization. 

He is the prolific author of several books, including Traditional Chiefdoms in Cameroon, Decentralization in Cameroon, the procedure of the criminal Code in Cameroon. 

A seasoned book editor since 1995, he continues to operate as a consultant on public finance issues and good governance.
