At MEDA AGM in Mbengwi: Barrister Ndangoh hands back-to-school materials to pupils, students.

Hundreds of pupils and students in Mbengwi village, Momo Division of the North West Region went home smiling on Saturday, August 23, 2025, after receiving school bags, books, pens, pencils, and rulers.

The donation was made during the Annual General Assembly, AGM, of the Mbengwi Elements Development Association, MEDA, chaired by HRM Njorken Adinu Awah, Fon of Mbengwi.

The initiative, hailed by parents as timely, was part of MEDA’s annual back-to-school campaign aimed at easing the burden of education on families while promoting a culture of learning in the community. It was championed by the outgoing President of MEDA, Ntumfon Barrister Ndangoh Tah Calvin.

The AGM also marked a historic moment as Ntumfon Barrister Ndangoh Tah Calvin officially stepped down after eight years of service as National President of MEDA. He handed over to Yaya Francis, in what was widely described as a smooth and dignified transition.

Barrister Ndangoh, who took over leadership after the passing of late Tah Emmanuel Kimberg, leaves behind a legacy of resilience and community impact. His tenure saw the provision of potable water, the construction and rehabilitation of roads and bridges, modernization of the community hall, and continuous advocacy for education.

Speaking after officially stepping down, Barrister Ndangoh said he is proud of his stewardship. Despite repeated appeals for him to continue, the legal luminary stood by MEDA’s constitution and declined re-election, promising instead to support the new leadership fully.

Beneficiaries brandishing donations

“At times when you are in power, your greatest worry is how you will hand over. I took over at a very difficult moment in the middle of the crisis, but I managed to mobilise and serve my people. I think I have done my part, and I pray the new executive continues in the same light,” Barrister Ndangoh said.

“I go home today as a very happy and fulfilled president. Thank you, Mbengwi, for your unwavering support, trust, and love,” he said.

After taking over the leadership of MEDA, Yaya Francis, the newly installed president, promised to consolidate the gains of his predecessor and steer the association towards greater heights.

“I am very happy to be entrusted with this responsibility. Mbengwi is a loving and caring people. I promise that together we are going to continue the development of our community,” he said.

The event, attended by over six Meta Fons, the President of MECUDA, and hundreds of Mbengwi sons and daughters from across Cameroon, was described as a celebration of unity, continuity, and development.
