The Cameroon Water Utilities Corporation, CAMWATER, has signed a landmark partnership with the Cameroon Postal Services, CAMPOST, to ease water bill payments across the country.

The deal was signed on Friday, November 14, in Yaounde.

The Director General of CAMWATER, Dr Blaise Moussa, and his counterpart of CAMPOST, Pierre Kaldadak, signed the deal.

Officials said the deal is a new leap in digital transformation to ease access to public services and enhance customer experience.

They also said the agreement introduces a new electronic payment system that will allow CAMWATER subscribers to settle their bills through CAMPOST’s vast national network across the country.

At the heart of the innovation is CAMPOST MONEY, CAMO. It is the postal corporation’s electronic wallet service, which, the two partners said, will start serving as a platform for water bill settlements.

According to the terms of the partnership, the initiative will bring payment points closer to users, expand the range of available channels beyond CAMWATER offices and conventional payment centres.

With CAMPOST’s presence in both urban hubs and remote localities, thousands of households, officials said, will now have a nearby point of service, significantly reducing the burden of long distances and queues.

The introduction of CAMPOST MONEY is also expected to simplify administrative procedures. Subscribers, it was said, will be able to conduct transactions electronically and ensure real-time processing, enhanced security and reduce physical contact.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr Blaise Moussa described the partnership as “a decisive step in the digitalisation of CAMWATER for the benefit of its subscribers”.

He emphasised that water, being an essential service, equally requires essential accessibility in its management.

“Water is a vital service, and access to payment for this service must be as simple as possible. This partnership with CAMPOST, thanks in particular to the integration of CAMPOST MONEY, is concrete prove of our commitment to using digital tools to improve the experience of our subscribers and make our services more accessible and efficient,” Dr Moussa stated.

CAMPOST DG, Pierre Kaldadak, expressed satisfaction with the partnership, noting that it reinforces his company’s mission to support national development through modernized services.

“CAMPOST, through its CAMPOST MONEY service, is proud to put its vast network at the service of another essential pillar of public service, CAMWATER,” Kaldadak stated.

He added that: “This partnership illustrates the diversification of our activities and our commitment to bringing digital financial services closer to the population, including in the most remote areas.

“We invite all CAMWATER subscribers to take advantage of the convenience and security of CAMPOST MONEY to pay their bills,” he added.

According to CAMWATER’s technical team, the collaboration also aligns with government initiatives aimed at modernising public institutions.

The team also noted that the move promote digital inclusion and improves service delivery. By integrating water bill payments into CAMPOST’s ecosystem, CAMWATER, it was said, positions itself as a leader in the digital transformation of state-owned utilities.

Personnel explained that practical modalities involve activation procedures, payment guidelines, and customer support mechanisms which are expected to be communicated to the public in the days ahead.

CAMWATER officials encouraged its subscribers to begin familiarising themselves with CAMPOST MONEY to fully benefit through easy payment of bills.
