AFCON: Cameroonian among Senegal vs Egypt match officials.

Celebrated Cameroonian referee, Elvis Guy Noupoue Nguegoue, has been named as one of the match officials of the 2025 African Cup of Nations, AFCON, semi-final game between Senegal and Egypt. 

The highly expected fixture takes place today in Tangier at 6:00pm Cameroonian time.



It is a repeat of the belated AFCON final where the Teranga Lions edged the Pharaohs to lift their maiden AFCON title. 

The winner of the game will face the winner of the other semi-final game pitting host nation and Nigeria.The game will take place at 9:00pm at the Prince Moulay Abdallah Stadium in Rabat.

Noupoue was selected by the Confederation of African Football, CAF, Central Referees’ Committee. He has been exceptional since the start of the AFCON. 

Gabonese referee, Pierre Ghislain Atcho, has been appointed by CAF to be in charge of the game. 

Boris Marlaise Ditsoga will serve as first assistant, Styven Moutassi Moyo from Congo Brazzerville as second and Amos Abeigne Ndong completes the trio.

Kenya’s Jean-Jacque Ngambo Ndalla has been named fourth official, while Peter Waweru Kamaku of Eswatini joins Noupue as first and second respectively. Inacio Manuel Candido of Angola is the referee assessor. 

Noupoue was part of the referee trio of the Nigeria vs Mozambique round 16 clash. He joined Abdel Mefire and Carine Atezambong to officiate the game. 

He was also on duty during the group E opener between Algeria and Sudan. He featured alongside two other Cameroonians, Carine Atezambong and Evarist Menkouande as referee assessor. 

It is not the first time that Noupoue will be part of the officiating team of a crucial game in his career. 

During the last edition of the AFCON in Cote d’Ivoire, he was in action for the knockout game between Morocco and South Africa. 

He also has experience in the CAF Champions League having been part of the final before and has also officiated at the FIFA Club World Cup in Saudi Arabia. 

No Cameroonian referee was selected for the second semi-final game pitting Nigeria and host nation Morocco. 

Ghanaian referee Daniel Nii Ayi Laryea will take charge of the game while South African Zakhele Thusi Granville and Souru Phatsoane of Botswana will be his first and second assistants respectively.
