For selfless service to community: Nfon Mukete confers titles on 78 outstanding trailblazers.

Nfon Mukete flanked by distinguished personalities

The Paramount ruler of the Bafaw and King of Kumba, Nfon Mukete IV Ekoko, has in collaboration with the Bafons [Nfons of Bafaw villages], conferred titles on some 78 Bafaw and non-native Bafaw who have distinguished themselves through their selfless services to humanity.



The conferment ceremony took place at the Nfon Mukete's palace in Kumba town. Those honoured included administrators, elite, natives of Bafaw villages and non-natives.

Among the non-natives singled out for the recognition was the Senior Divisional Officer, SDO, of Meme Division, Chamberlin Ntou'ou Ndong. The civil administrator was conferred the prestigious title of Sah Mbuh [Father of all].

Other awardees included Kumba City Mayor, Gregory Ntemoyork Mewanu, who was conferred the title of Nde Maku [the Conqueror of Obstacles], Senator Andrew Otte Mofa, with title of Deedi Kumbi, [the Eyes of the Hawk].

Also honoured was Hon Tabot Lawson Bakia, with title of Ekpa Lisongoh [the Hunter Bag That Brings Good Things], the Mayor of the Konye Council, Dr Barrister Musima George Lobe, with distinction of Likin li Ddah [Pillar Stone of The House] and Kumba II Mayor, Chief Mbachu Jacob Kay, with similar title of the latter.

Some Bafaw elite whose works have not gone unnoticed were honoured with the title of "Kwo", the highest title in the Bafaw land. Holders of the title will serve as advisers to the King of Kumba and the Nfon of the Bafaw.

Among those who were honoured with the distinguished title were the President of the South West Regional Assembly, Bakoma Zacheus Elango; Mayors of Kumba I, II, Barrister Eseme Moses Esembe and Isaac Mukwelle Nguba, respectively; Mandi Lawrence Balimba, Second Deputy Mayor of the Konye Council; Dr Colonel Ashu Eben Balimba; Eseme Rex; Dr Ndedi Ngoh Nkelle; Lawrence Ngoh Mende; Epoke Sona; Sona Lobe and Dibo Peter Akama.

Meanwhile, in the female category, prominent women of Bafaw origin, notably the pioneer Director of the Higher Technical Teachers Training College, HTTTC, Prof Joyce Bayande Mbongo Epse Endeley, Prof Anjoh Fri Manyi Rose, Ma Mbone Elizabeth Epse Mukoto, Queen Mayang Enika Mukete, Amah Vanessa Epite Sona among others, were decorated with the highest title of the Bafaw land.

The distinguished women were all conferred the title of Malua [Women of Substance].

Speaking at the close of the ceremony, Bafaw Monarch, Nfon Mukete IV Ekoko, noted that the Bafaw community accorded the titles to encourage hard work and excellence and not for self-aggrandisement.
