Ahead of local elections: Mezam, Ngoketunjia CPDM bigwigs begin grassroots mobilisation.

 The strategic meeting was organised Saturday, August 22, 2026 in Bamenda. 

In Mezam, party leaders and sympathisers met at the conference room of the North West Regional Assembly. North Weest Regional Assembly President, Fru Angwafor III, who represented Minister Mbayu Felix, the acting Head of the CPDM Permanent Divisional Coordination for Mezam, chaired the meeting. 

The discussions focused on how to strengthen the party at the grassroots as elections draw closer. Officials also discussed voter registration and the need for supporters to take part effectively before, during and after the elections.

For Ngoketunjia Division, the meeting held at the conference room of the North West Regional Delegation of Secondary Education. 

The meeting brought together CPDM officials and sympathisers from the division. It was chaired by the Head of the party’s Permanent Divisional Coordination, Prof Uphie Melo Chinje who said the party has already started preparing for the elections.

“The CPDM in Ngoketunjia has started mobilising for a landslide victory when elections are called. The ground is not level. We have opposition political parties that are also on the field, and we don’t want to sleep on our laurels,” she said.

CPDM Member of Parliament, Hon Njingum Musa, said the meeting was meant to remind party members of the need to work together and put the agreed strategies into practice.

“We educated them to work in unity and follow up all the strategies put in place to make sure that CPDM enjoys a landslide victory in the upcoming elections as usual,” Hon Musa said.

He also urged supporters to encourage more people to register on the electoral roll.

“This time around, we want to see all that we discussed here today put into practice,” he added.

Hon Njingum Musa warned party members against internal divisions, saying infighting could weaken the CPDM.

“Infighting will only divide us and cause us to fail. My motto is that we must succeed, and anyone who wants to do the contrary will be sent away for the sake of the party,” he said.

On security, Hon Njingum Musa said the party had adopted new ways of dealing with challenges linked to insecurity. 

He noted that several parts of the country face security difficulties but elections have continued to take place.

He said Ngoketunjia would not be an exception, recalling the party’s performance in the last presidential election.

The strategic meeting was part of the CPDM’s preparations ahead of the next year’s elections. Party officials say they must remain active as opposition parties are also organising at the grassroots.

In the North West, the CPDM controls all but one of the region’s councils, giving it a strong presence at the local level.

The party says the current focus is on strengthening that grassroots presence, registering more voters and ensuring that supporters remain active when the elections are eventually convened.
