China: Cameroon wins 16 medals at bodybuilding, fitness championship.

Cameroonian, Yanick Tchitsou (centre), brandishing gold medal

The Cameroon national bodybuilding and fitness team have cemented the country's status among the sport's elite with another commanding performance.

The team secured 16 medals, including eight gold medals, during the 2026 World Fitness Federation, WFF, Asia-Pacific Intercontinental Championships.

The prestigious global gathering took place in Shaoxing, China, from August 20 to 23.

The Cameroonian delegation comprising nine athletes delivered a remarkable performance. The team won 16 medals; eight gold medals, four silver and four bronze. They also bagged home three honours.

Among the Cameroonian performances, Yanick Tchitsou stood out in particular. The young athlete won three gold medals in the three separate junior categories.

The performance was one of the highlights of Cameroon’s participation in Shaoxing. It illustrated the potential of Cameroon’s up-and-coming talents and the ability of young athletes to excel in high-level international competition.

Another major source of pride for the Cameroonian delegation was Ndoko Espoir’s transition from amateur to professional status.

Competing in the Men’s Jeans Model category, he was awarded professional status at the end of the competition. The promotion marks an important milestone in his career and now opens the doors to the professional categories for him.

The balance sheet of the Cameroon national bodybuilding and fitness team confirms the progress made in the discipline and rewards the federation’s efforts to support its athletes in reaching the highest level.

This performance helps to strengthen the presence of Cameroonian bodybuilding and fitness on the international stage. FECABOF also mentioned that it underscores their commitment to nurture new talent capable of representing Cameroon with dignity.

It is important to note that the Cameroonian delegation was led by the President of the Cameroon Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation, FECABOF, Achille Balemagna with the support of the Ministry of Sport and Physical Education, MINSEP.

Cameroon's recent triumph at the 2026 World Fitness Federation WFF Asia-Pacific Intercontinental Championships is not a one-off. In 2025, at the World Bodybuilding Championship in Mumbai, Cameroon made a huge statement by winning 12 medals.

Christian Nsanga won three gold medals while Ulrich Ndadjie won two gold medals. Belomo Giscard secured a silver medal and a bronze medal. Cameroon also received two honorary gold distinctions.

Bodybuilding and fitness has grown steadily in recent years, with athletes winning numerous medals on the international stage.

Some of those who have brought pride to the nation have been duly honoured. In August 2024, bodybuilders Christian Nsanga and Kevin Anoho were awarded brand-new cars by Fecabof after winning gold at the World Championships in Curitiba, Brazil.
