Ahead of twin elections: Minister Mengot mobilises Manyu CPDM for landslide victory.

The seminar, according to organisers, was aimed at fast-tracking preparations for the forthcoming legislative and municipal elections. The seminar brought together the who-is-who of the CPDM in Manyu Division.

It was held under the theme: “The Imperative of a CPDM Landslide Victory in the Legislative and Municipal Elections: Reasons, Prerequisites and Actions”.

Addressing party supporters, Minister Mengot said the seminar was a direct offshoot of the national strategic seminar, convened in Yaounde, by the Secretary General of the CPDM Central Committee, Jean Nkuete; with more than 200 Heads of Permanent Regional and Divisional Delegations in attendance.

Referencing the Presidential election of October 12, 2025, Minister Mengot said the CPDM had never faced such fierce and organised competition since the return to multiparty politics in 1990. 

He noted that the opposition network had extended into administration, electoral institutions, media, civil society and beyond, but the party demonstrated its resilience and centrality.

However, he admitted that the prevailing environment is not entirely favourable on the eve of the upcoming twin elections, citing growing population, rising expectations, unfulfilled promises and community shortcomings that are increasingly denounced. 

In this light, he called for active engagement and continuous interaction with the population, more relevant analytical frameworks to understand complex social transformations, and more compelling arguments to win back confidence from the population.

The seminar's seven-point agenda focused on political evaluation, organisational preparedness and effective coordination of actions for victory.

The coming months, party supporters agreed, must be devoted to: mobilisation, leadership, communication and public awareness, before the electoral college is convened by the Head of State.

The minister reminded party elite of the need to restore cohesion within the ranks, address the crucial issue of candidatures to avoid internal wrangling, give greater responsibility to women, mobilise financial resources and ensure effective local communication.

Speaking to journalists at the end of the closed-door working session, Minister Victor Mengot said the Buea seminar had succeeded, despite the postponement of the planned Regional seminar for reasons beyond their control.

He disclosed that the next stage is going to the field to mobilise grassroot supporters.

"We will be going to the Sections where the nitty-gritty of this seminar is going to be implemented because we are well prepared…before the electoral college is convened by the Head of State, the CPDM in Manyu will be waxing strong on the field… we just want to show our opponents that they have to think twice."
