Bui Division: SDO accuses Mbiame Fon of aiding, protecting Amba fighters!.

The Senior Divisional Officer, SDO of Bui Division, in the restive North West Region, Menyong Gilbert Sunday, has accused the traditional ruler of Mbiame village, Fon Nweh II, of providing “aid and comfort to separatist terrorists”.

The startling revelation of the administrative authority is contained in a two-page “warning letter” he addressed to the traditional ruler Friday June 16, 2023.  The SDO sees the Fon as supporting those fronting the movement to split the present day Anglophone Regions from the rest of the country to create the putative Republic of Ambazonia.

The SDO’s outing appears to have been provoked by the killing of a police officer by Amba fighters around the Fon’s palace last Thursday June 15.

The “warning letter”, with reference No 110/L/E.26/PS/374, a copy of which The Guardian Post stumbled on, copies the Governor of the North West Region and the Divisional Officer, DO of Mbven (for follow-up).

It has come to my knowledge that you give aid and comfort to separatist terrorists which is tantamount to jeopardising the smooth return to normalcy in Mbiame and Bui Division in general,” partly reads the epistle from Menyong.

Buttressing his accusations leveled against the traditional ruler further, the SDO said the Fon’s actions are demonstrated through his “incestuous relationship with enemy forces”.

The SDO said the traditional ruler has “never taken part in any public ceremony organised in Mbiame,” including the installation of the new Divısional Officer, DO of Mbven on August 25, 2022; even though the event took place “a few meters from your palace”.

Menyong accused the Fon of not only boycotting this year’s Youth Day and National Day celebrations but provocatively “mobilising your population to go and work farms in Mbonso”.

Detailing his accusations further, the SDO frowned at the fact that the Fon “entertains an incestuous relationship with enemy forces”.

To corroborate his accusations, the SDO wrote: “On the 14th of June 2023, Amba terrorists moved around your Chiefdom and warned all Mbororo people to come out massively to receive you on your return from the USA, else face their wrath. Besides, the population that escorted you upon return from your journey from Mbonso to your palace in Mbiame was headed by terrorists”.

Fon leaking information to Amba, masterminding kidnapping!

The administrative authority said information within his area of command alleges that the traditional ruler leaks vital “information to terrorists concerning the movement of the defense and security forces, and mastermind the kidnapping of peaceful civilians for ransoms in order to share in the booty”.

He also faulted the traditional ruler for failing to show sympathy or concern about the unfortunate incident that led to the killing of the Brigade Commander of Mbiame, by suspected Amba fighters.

“The killing of a police element yesterday the 15th of June 2023 around your palace by a group of terrorist shows that you eat and dine with them. To corroborate this, you have shown no compassion to the forces of law and order and the administration after the sad incident,” the SDO detailed.

Menyong, in the warning letter, called on Fon Nweh II, to as an auxiliary to the adminıstration, “show proof of loyalty to state institutions and total unflinching support to the powers that be”.

This, the SDO added, should be done through “frantic efforts toward peace building, fighting criminality and in preserving the unity of our country, Cameroon”.

The SDO urged the traditional ruler to “amend your ways and desist from any collaboration with Amba terrorists or face the consequences of your actions”.

Mbiame, it should be said, has been a separatist hotspot since the crisis in the North West and South West Regions morphed into full-fledged armed conflict.

It should be recalled that Fon Nweh II, has been one of the most courageous traditional rulers who has remained in his village since the escalation of the crisis.

Many of his peers have fled their villages and are living as Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, in other parts of the country.
