PAD makes progress in deployment of new information system.

The Douala Port Authority, PAD, has advanced the deployment of its new Port Information System, SIP. The progress of the project was reviewed during a working session chaired by PAD Director General, Cyrus Ngo’o.

According to information published by PAD, the system is gradually being rolled out across the port platform following two weeks of live testing that began on July 3, 2026.

The project was launched on November 14, 2024, and is scheduled for completion on October 14, 2026. PAD revealed that the SIP is designed to replace the port’s existing CARGO software and serve as an integrated platform for managing key port operations.

PAD said the system has been developed in line with international standards to support the digital management of major port processes.

According to PAD, the platform has already processed 53 vessel calls, 26 cargo manifests and 26 invoices during the testing phase. Several services to vessels have also been handled through the system.

It added that deployment has been extended to a number of port structures, including the RDR, DEX, DCAP and DFC, as well as strategic partners such as stevedores and shipping agents.

PAD explained that the SIP incorporates a range of digital functions covering vessel call management, cargo management, invoicing and revenue collection, electronic payment of port charges, access control, truck appointment scheduling and booking services. PAD said the platform is expected to provide users with a single portal for accessing and managing port services.

During the review meeting, Cyrus Ngo’o called for stronger involvement from users of the system and instructed teams to reinforce training programmes. He also urged the certification of designated business-process focal points and the wider adoption of the platform across all port structures to ensure its full integration into operations.

According to the port authority, the new platform is intended to support faster service delivery, strengthen coordination among stakeholders and improve the monitoring of transactions across the port ecosystem.

PAD has identified digital transformation as one of the pillars of its strategy to improve operational performance and modernise services. Earlier this year, the authority announced plans to achieve full digitalisation of its port platform by 2026 as part of its smart-port agenda.

PAD said the ongoing rollout of the SIP will continue in the coming months as additional users and structures are integrated into the platform ahead of the project's scheduled completion in October 2026.

The authority stated that the objective is to establish a more connected and digitally managed operating environment at the Port of Douala-Bonaberi.
