Supposed Ngoh Ngoh-Baboke conflict: Picture that puts detractors to shame.

Anonymous book readers, analysts, and self-styled influencers, had been churning to the public space information of a supposed conflict between the Minister of State, Secretary General at the Presidency of the Republic, Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh and the Deputy Director of the Civil Cabinet of the Presidency of the Republic, Oswald Baboke.

Fitting for the countless semantics, antics, deceptions and oftentimes marketed conflict among collaborators of the Head of State, the rumour mill has fed on the imaginary Ngoh Ngoh-Oswald Baboke infighting.

Within political circles, pockets of camps had also been feeding on such unfounded but sustained narrative. 

Superficially, those who fanned the flame of such a supposed conflict, had for long painted a picture of the relationship between the Head of State’s close collaborators, reaching the level of the proverbial kill-and-take-the-head.

It is a sweet-bitter narrative that had left everyone seeking to get answers, especially when it is sandwiched in the succession at the helm of State equation. 

The Unity Palace, where Ministers Ngoh Ngoh and Baboke, have for years been working, serving the Head of State loyally and faithfully, had been painted as a war front wherein the duo is battling for survival.

The two respectable Statesmen weaved in these imaginary narratives have rarely stepped out; to either debunk or clear the air on what has for long been a menu served the public. 

Whether they have been dismissive or focused on work, is what no one had ever been able to establish.

As if to say Cameroonians were brainwashed into illusions, rumours and assumptions, both Ngoh Ngoh and Oswald Baboke, have again left the polity talking. 

This time, it is not a matter of conjecture, lengthy political analyses or gossips with power circles. It is the existence of a rare comradeship 

A picture worth more than a thousand words 

Noted for their usually reserved nature, notwithstanding the tons of insults and imaginary wrong-doings, both Ngoh Ngoh and Baboke appeared in public last Friday July 30, 2026; congenial and genial. That was on the occasion of the medal award ceremony for staff of the General Secretariat of the Presidency. 

As was expected, the sight and pictures of the Ngoh Nogh-Oswald Baboke closeness, as seen last Friday, have been the talk of the nation. 

Last Friday’s show of genuine conviviality between Ngoh Ngoh and Baboke, dependable Unity Palace sources have told The Guardian Post, is not new to the close collaborators of both Statesmen. 

Irrespective, many Cameroonians say last Friday’s outing of Ngoh Ngoh and Baboke inspires oneness, unity, friendship, esteemed courtesy, respect and solidarity around the highest institution of the State, even in the absence of the Head of State.

Analysts say it is a sight that tells of serenity and congruence in the way power, institutions and instructions align to serve the policy of the Head of State and forge ahead nation building process.

In the real sense of the word, it is a picture worth a thousand words. Yet, in the current political dynamics of power, succession and State cohesion, the Ngoh Ngoh-Oswald Baboke picture has been elevated to one of rare photos that could beat the 1000 words maxim. 

It is a picture that is diluting claims of make-believe scenarios, which some detractors have been trying to reconstruct. 

Last Friday’s outing, for many, has shown the difference between real life and social media constructs. 

They say it tells the story of two loyal servants of the Head of State, who know where they are and what they have been called to do at the Unity Palace.

Silencing detractors without noise?

Prior to last Friday’s Unity Palace medal award ceremony, agents of division, war-mongers, prophets of doom and sowers of division, had had their time on different platforms. They had battled so hard to give the public the impression, falsely, that at the Unity Palace, power struggle through unconventional means, has put the two respected Statesmen at daggers drawn.

Either by coincidence or intentional display of friendship, Ngoh Ngoh and Oswald Baboke, sent just one salvo. They surfaced in flesh and blood, talking intimately with chuckles of whatever amused them. Be that as it may, the development has sent across the clear message that 99.9% of what those who masquerade as social media influencers and half-baked whistle-blowers/bloggers publish on social media is utterly false and misleading. 

It was not a televised address or a joint press conference. They two Statesmen, in their natural state, flowing even amid the pressure of work at such level, were at eased in a way never seen. Since then, the agents who spread unfounded information on social media about them have been left speechless.  

In the politics of power dynamics, nation building and loyalty, pundits say the Secretary General at the Presidency and the Deputy Director of Civil Cabinet have proven detractors wrong.

They didn’t fight anybody or scapegoat anyone. Pundits say they simply went about their duty and reality has dawned on everyone that in reality, they are actually collaborating and not fighting each other at the expense of national interest.

To those who continue to live in the illusion that there can be no smoke without fire, analysts say the body language of Ngoh Ngoh and Oswald Baboke, as seen last Friday, strongly disagrees with that primitive assertion.

Political watchers are unanimous that the scales have fallen off the eyes of Cameroonians, who are now aware that given that Cameroon is a country of extreme anomalies, the supposed conflict between Ngoh Ngoh and Baboke, existed only in the imagination of their detractors. They insist that such imaginative conflict has now crumbled like a pack of cards.
