Regional campaign managers: Biya deflates CPDM power-mongers in NW, SW.

Senator Elizabeth Regina Mundi: NW CPDM Campaign Manager

Supporters of the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement, CPDM, party, have, for decades, been praising Biya’s wisdom in leadership, not knowing that even when it comes to their politicking, Biya sees more than they do.

For months, there have been silent infighting among heavyweights of the ruling party, in the build up to constituting teams for the October 12 presidential election campaigns.

If everything had been left to chance, analysts say, even a Nursery School kid would have been swift to say who is going to play what role in Biya’s campaigns across the 10 Regions of the country.

But in the North West and South West Regions, the call for such service, associated with its honour of hoping to deliver votes for President Biya in a dire context, meant the battle to lead in campaigns was high and deadly.

Yet, Biya, true to his unpredictable nature, has again put to shame most of those who, in the day, masquerade as bona fide CPDM bigwigs but working constantly at night to disintegrate the party and throwing banana peelings on the way of those who try to rise above them within their spheres of command.

Little wonder, Biya, has, given the high stakes of this year’s presidential election, clipped the wings of several CPDM power-mongers in the two English-speaking Regions of the country.

A majority of them, observers say, had become naughty and haughty, counting just weeks and days to descend to the interiors of the North West and South West Regions, to cause chaos in the name of campaigning for Biya.

Unexpected bomb drops

But what the power-mongers least expected dropped to their knowledge and the public on Wednesday September 23, 2025. On that day, the Secretary General of the Central Committee of the CPDM, Jean Nkuete, made public a list of Regional Campaign heads, sending persons who had made themselves the beginning and end of CPDM issues into near coma.

In the North West and South West Regions, the identities of those to head the campaign team, analysts say, gives to understanding Biya’s knowledge of what some of his party’s bigwigs had all along been doing on the field.

The Guardian Post gathered on good authority that, the choice of Regional Campaign team leaders in the North West and South West Regions, came from President Paul Biya himself.

The President’s unexpected pick of Senators Regina Mundi and Nfon Mukete IV Ekoko, as CPDM Campaign Managers for the North West and South West Regions respectively, we gathered, is to put a stop to the cacophony and irrational attitude of some CPDM elite in the two English-speaking Regions, known for their divisive, war-like language and scores-settling.

It is reported that such individuals, with bloated egos, who had hitherto considered themselves the truth, the way and the life within the CPDM in their areas of origin, have since the publication of the list of Regional Campaign Coordinators, developed fallen jaws and twisted faces.

Beyond being deflated, reports are emerging that since Nkuete made public the list, most the power-mongers passing for CPDM mobilisers have been sobbing in hotel rooms and corridors of power in Yaounde.

Why choice of Senators Mundi, Nfon Mukete IV

It has now emerged that the mark shift from the déjà vu in putting certain persons to head campaigns in the two English-speaking Regions, has been triggered by security reports, which reportedly put Biya in the know that such appointments frequently resulted in bad-mouthing, internal clashes and scores-settling among members of the CPDM campaign team.

The Guardian Post has it on good authority that it is seeking to avoid a repeat of such errors and ensuring a hitch-free campaign, that Biya opted for characters that are sublime, levelheaded, humble and above all, have a history of appealing to people; irrespective of their political backgrounds and social standings in society.

In the search for such profiles, the Head of State settled for the revered King of Kumba and Paramount Ruler of the Bafaw, Senator Nfon Mukete to head his campaign bidding in the South West Region.

For the North West Region, the ball is in the court of the open-minded and people-friendly Senator Regina Mundi.

Analysts say beyond being well known public figures, the two Senators are personalities with proven integrity, rallying power and modesty to unite ruling party heavyweights in their respective Regions for a robust campaign that will see Biya winning the October 12 poll with a resounding victory.

In Mundi and Nfon Mukete, the CPDM National Chairman is said to have found middle ground to revive spirits among party supporters pushed to extremes by known faces and personalities who had transformed the ruling party in the two Regions to village provisions stores.

When Biya’s wisdom gets it right

There has been a breeze of calmness and confidence among grassroots CPDM party supporters in the North West and South West Regions, since the names of Senators Mundi and Nfon Mukete were made public.

In welcoming the news, some party supporters said for once, Biya has shown within the CPDM that his wisdom is rare.

Those rejoicing point to the engaging works of Senator Nfon Mukete and Senator Regina Mundi across the two Regions in empowering people, preaching peace and unity.

Irrespective of politics, CPDM supporters are saying they have been close to the population and are soft-spoken, making them assets for the ruling party during campaigns.

What happens in other Regions?

In the other eight Regions, names chosen to coordinate Biya’s campaign are viewed with similar but less emphatic reading.

According to the Jean Nkuete-signed release, the Deputy Secretary General at the Presidency, Mohamadou Mustapha, will coordinate the exercise in the Adamawa Region.

In the Centre Region, the task has been entrusted to the President of the Centre Regional Council, Gilbert Tsimi Evouna and Essomba Asse Auguste. Former Governor, Bernard Wongolo, will champion the same activity in the East Region.

Former Public Service and Administrative Reforms Minister, Sali Dairo, will do same in the Far North Region; Senator Tjoues Genevieve, Littoral; Salid Dairou, North Region; Minister Madeleine Tchuente, West Region and Ename Ename Samson in the South Region.

Campaigns for the October 12 poll officially begins tomorrow and will end midnight October 11.
