Supporters of the Cameroon People's Democratic Movement, CPDM party, in the North West Region, have promised a 100% victory for their party’s candidate, Paul Biya, at the October 12 presidential election.

The promise was made during the launch of campaigns at the Bamenda Congress Hall, on Saturday, September 27.

The President of the Regional Campaign Committee, Philemon Yang, chaired the event.

It brought together top the brass of the party in the Region, including Senator Regina Mundi, Ministers Mbayu Felix, Mbah Acha Rose, Hon Njingum Musa alongside many other party bigwigs.

100% vote for Biya

Through a motion of support read during the event, CPDM party officials and supporters openly declared their unflinching resolve to renew the mandate of the incumbent Head of State, with 100% vote in the October 12 polls.

Other reactions to back up the support came through declarations from some YCPDM and WCPDM Section Presidents, and through youth presidents in the Region.

Why NW should vote Biya

In his speech, the President of the Regional Campaign Committee, Philemon Yang, described Biya as a Statesman who does only what is necessary for the country.

Yang said the unanimous mobilisation behind President Biya is because of his quality and experience as a Statesman in handling the complex affairs of the nation.

Yang quoted many peaceful initiatives and developmental projects President Biya has realised while at the helm of the State.

The former Prime Minister cited Biya’s wisdom in handling the Cameroon-Bakassi conflict and the Anglophone crisis, which he said the President Biya has taken tangible measures to resolve the crisis. Yang also named numerous projects in the domain of empowerment of women and youth.

He also described Biya as a nationalist who has worked so hard to improve on sports and road infrastructure as well as several other projects for the god of the citizens.

Yang said the people of the North West Region should vote massively to renew President Biya’s stay at the helm of the State for him to continue improving on what he has done and to realise several other projects.

“Northwesterners should vote President Paul Biya because he has tremendous experience and has done many things and will do more in future. You can be sure that he is the best candidate we can ever have because we are looking for peace, respect, development and we prefer to be with the candidate that we know best,” Yang said.

Voting for Biya, Yang said, is a vote for the preservation of peace and security of the country, acceleration of move towards emergence by 2035.

He also said Biya, if voted, will improve on the provision of social amenities such as water, electricity and good health.

“We strongly suggest to the population and militants of the party in the region that their choice in the past has been President Paul Biya, and it should again be their choice this time around, so that we can look into the future, and build this country together,” Yang added.

He also said the President will accelerate digital innovation in the country, by giving room to many youths to develop and innovate platforms and skills that will be useful to the nation.

Yang concluded by calling on the population of the North West Region and Cameroon at large to stop listening to those who are trying to divide the country. He added that there is no nation in the world that was built on the internet.

He urged the population of the Region and Cameroon at large to be passionate about their country, be perseverant, patient and contribute to nation building.

Speaking earlier in his welcome address, the Section President of YCPDM Mezam 1B, Che Fru Abongwa, listed several projects realised by the government of President Biya in the North West Region.

While pledging the total support of his section to the Head of State, Che Fru reminded the youth to be ambassadors of peace.
