Supporters of the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement, CPDM, in Balikumbat, Ngoketunjia Division of the North West Region, have once again demonstrated the strength and might of the ruling party in the area.

To publicly demonstrate their might and dominance in the Subdivision, CPDM supporters on Wednesday staged a groundbreaking rally in Balikumbat, despite threats from separatists.

The mega rally took place to Sunday’s presidential election in which CPDM candidate, Biya, will be challenged by nine other contenders.

Wednesday’s colourful campaign rally in Balikumbat, was marked by the presentation of speeches, notably from the Mayor of the Balikumbat Council.

In his welcome address at the rally, Mayor Bah Gahnyamyin III who doubles as Fon of Balikumbat and Vice President of the Communal campaign team, praised supporters of the CPDM for braving threats from separatists to attend the ceremony.

To him, their massive presence was great demonstration of their loyalty and unwavering support to their champion, incumbent President Paul Biya.

Speaking further, the respected monarch and politician, thanked the defense and security forces for their immeasurable efforts to ensure a quick return to normalcy in the Subdivision.

Taking the cue, Balikumbat CPDM Section President, Senator Dingha Ignatius Bayin, who lauded President Paul Biya's continuous efforts to ensure that Balikumbat remains the bastion of the CPDM in the North West Region and beyond.

In that light, he pointed out that under the leadership of President Paul Biya, Balikumbat was elevated to the status of a Subdivision and subsequently, a Special Constituency.

The veteran politician further emphasised that it was therefore a compelling responsibility to reciprocate as always with a landslide victory for “our wise and visionary leader, come next Sunday”.

He also appealed to the sons of Ngoketunjia II still hiding in bushes to stop living like monkeys and heed the Head of State's call by dropping their weapons to give peace a chance again.
While deploring the tense atmosphere in which events are unfolding, he decried the fact that many loyal supporters could not come out to fully take part in activities related to the current campaign due to threats and intimidation.

He reassured them that Balikumbat will remain strong, noting that evil will be defeated. Dingha said this was only possible should the people ensure a resounding victory for President Paul Biya, come October 12.

Speaking further, Dingha hailed the leadership of the CPDM at the Central and decentralised levels for increasing the representation of the Ngoketunjia II Section at the Regional Assembly, increasing her seats from two to three.

In conclusion, Senator Dingha thanked the defense and security forces for their unreserved commitment to securing the lives of the inhabitants of Balikumbat Subdivision and CPDM supporters in particular.

He then gave firm orientation for a door -to-door campaign with specific strategies to achieve the goal within the prevailing security context. The event ended with a solidarity walk on the streets of Balikumbat.
