Unity Blue Beach Volleyball tourney to begin May 16.

The highly-awaited Unity Blue Beach Volleyball tournament is scheduled to take place from May 16 to 17 in Ngoumou, Centre Region. 

The date and venue for the tourney, which promises to produce fireworks, was made public Wednesday.



The Unity Blue Beach Volleyball tourney is organized by the Cameroon Volleyball Federation, FECAVOLLEY.

The event, placed under the patronage of the City Mayor of the host locality, is organised in partnership with Cameroon Telecommunications, CAMTEL.

According to FECAVOLLEY, the Unity Blue Beach Volleyball tourney will see teams in the men’s and women's junior and senior categories compete for the coveted one million FCFA prize money.

The record prize money, according to reports, underscores the growing professionalization of the sport at the local level.

For athletes registered in the Junior and Senior categories, in both the women’s and men’s divisions, this prize pool represents tangible recognition of their efforts and talent.

Also, the entry fees, set at 5,000 FCFA for seniors categories and 3,000 FCFA for the junior teams, was to ensure maximum accessibility while maintaining a high level of competition.

Reports say FECAVOLLEY under the leadership of its president Julien Serge Abouem, is keen on staging a mega two-day tournament in Ngoumou.

Julien Serge Abouem, who's presidency at the helm of FECAVOLLEY is contested by some, has been involved in organizing various local and national volleyball activities in the country. 

Fans, it was revealed, will be thrilled with a series of high-intensity unprecedented and exciting matches with popular entertainment at 8:00am during the two-day competition.

The goal, we gathered, is to highlight the role of beach volleyball as a driver for unity and entertainment. This comes three days to the celebration of the National Day.

The 54th edition of the National Day, which will be celebrated on Wednesday May 20, is observed under the theme: “National Unity: Backbone of our Defence System, Bedrock of Cameroon's Development.”
