Edison Fru Ndi: Torch-bearer in rebuilding NW.

The rise of Edison Fru Ndi, to becoming a household name in the rebuilding of Bamenda, and by extension the North West Region, owing to the destructions suffered within the conflict in the English-speaking Regions, is no accident.

Edison Fru Ndi has stayed on the ground through sweat and sacrifice, working to make Bamenda the true face of the North West Region and putting communities back on viable tracks.

He is the one man who has constantly answered present in good and challenging times. This has made him a name in negotiating for community peace, reconstruction of vital infrastructure and working with stakeholders to realise even the most difficult of undertakings.

Edison Fru Ndi holds the unique record of having been at the centre of major projects that are today not only giving value to Bamenda and the entire North West Region but attracting several persons back to their communities.

Groundbreaking realisations

One of his groundbreaking works was being among the first investors to embrace the Bamenda Industrial Zone through the Mutan Market project.

Launched in October 2025, Edison Fru Ndi, through his Dreamland Connect Company, delivered the project within the prescribed deadline of mid-2026. He delivered the 410 million FCFA project on Friday, July 31, 2026.

The state-of-the-art market of 54 sheds, a 10,000-litre water storage capacity borehole, solar-powered electricity, internal and external sanitation facilities, and other associated infrastructure, is today a reality thanks to Edison Fru Ndi.

Within the context of the Presidential Plan for the Reconstruction and Development of the North West and South Regions, PPRD-NW/SW, Edison Fru Ndi, is also a lead actor.

He has worked with the United Nations Development Programme, UNDP, to put Government Bilingual High School, GBHS, Bamenda back to standard.

Edison Fru Ndi’s company rehabilitated 27 classrooms across seven blocks, provided whiteboard, 810 benches, cupboards and other school needs on campus.

Beyond contract specifications, Edision Fru Ndi, whose love for the good of the North West Region is known, used his personal money to further realise other projects in GBHS Bamenda.

These included the construction of restrooms, discipline master’s office, construction of retaining walls, walkways, landscaping of the campus among others.

This year, the school is being cited as one of the best examples of reconstruction strides in the two English-speaking Regions of the country.

When fire ravaged parts of the Bamenda Regional Hospital, in July this year, interrupting the flow of services, Edison Fru Ndi was the first person to offer relief.

In line with his known interest in philanthropy, he offered donations, worth 3.5 million FCFA, to the management of the hospital to ensure thousands of people in the Region who seek health services at the facility could continue to be attended to.

His donation kitty included glasses, cups coffee, cream, visitor chairs, storage cupboards, televisions set, colour printer among others.

Edison Fru Ndi’s recent award, it should be said, didn’t come much as a surprise. The serial businessman had previously bagged similar prizes for his distinguished role in boosting the development and business environment in the North West Region and beyond.

Edison Fru Ndi is well-known for his attitude as a man with a kind and loving heart, a humanitarian par excellence and a philanthropist of high standing.

He has been hailed across the board for his actions and businesses that have helped to boost livelihoods in the North West Region and Cameroon at large.

Edison Fru Ndi is a household name in Bamenda in particular and the North West Region in general. This is due to the numerous businesses he operates in the Region, which have direct impacts on the population.

He is promoter of the first-ever high-end restaurant in Bamenda, Dreamland Restaurant, opened in the late 90’s, whose slogan, “Putting your money where your mouth is,” quickly became a catch phrase in the town.

He has also been involved in telecommunications business. The dynamic and workaholic Edison Fru Ndi later created a cabaret that was ranked the best in the CEMAC Sub-region by 2010, and a snack bar that has taken entertainment to a different level in Bamenda.

Dreamland Holdings PLC which he runs also carries out construction contracts and runs a two- billion FCFA-worth gravel production plant. The gravel production plant can produce 250 tonnes of gravel per hour.

Hundreds of young Cameroonians and their families are feeding from the gravel production plant run by Edison Fru Ndi. He has served as President of the North West Contractors’ syndicate, NOWECOSY.

His tenure saw a better execution and follow-up of contracts execution in the North West Region. In September 2020, he was overwhelmingly voted as the North West Regional Delegate of the Chamber of Commerce and in June last year, Edison Fru Ndi was elected a member of the Executive Board of the strategic State organ.

Observers say Edison Fru Ndi’s largesse and philanthropy cannot be overemphasised, as he believes in helping the youth to grow.
