Ahead of twin polls: Minister Nalova Lyonga sets Fako CPDM on path to resounding victory.

Prof Nalova who doubles as the Minister of Secondary Education has enjoined key stakeholders of the CPDM in Fako Division, to begin work for a landslide victory in expected municipal and legislative elections early next year.

This was the focus of enlarged coordination meeting she held with party stakeholders in Buea, on August 8, 2026. 

In attendance among others were Senators, Parliamentarians, Section Presidents and other party officials from across Fako Division.

It held under the theme: “The imperative of a CPDM landslide victory in the legislative and municipal elections: Reasons, prerequisites, actions.”

The minister noted that the goal was to domesticate the resolutions of the July 22, 2026, meeting, which the Secretary General of the CPDM Central Committee, Jean Nkuete, chaired in Yaounde.

During the meeting, she launched an aggressive mobilisation drive, with the goal of enabling the ruling party sweep all councils and parliamentary seats in Fako Division.

Minister Nalova Lyonga stressed that unity and discipline are non-negotiable as the political party prepares for the landmark elections. 

“We must cease all internal rivalries. Stop factionalism because a divided house cannot withstand external electoral pressures. Unless we want to scatter to the rivers, to the mountains, and down to the sea, we must be united,” she declared.

Nalova Lyonga drummed merit-based, transparent and consensus-driven candidate selection process. She said proximity politics is needed to ensure campaigns are decentralised to the quarters and suburbs. 

She decried the lack of young professionals in party databases. The minister insisted on women and young people to be given a chance, before urging local party officials to ensure supporters are fully registered.

Other issues the minister addressed were; the need for timely resource mobilisation and the transparent management of such resources. 

She instructed all Sections and Sub Sections to replicate the seminar’s strategy to ensure every supporter is equipped with the same winning mind-set and mentality.

Minister Nalova Lyonga said the actions will enable the party to select the most popular and best equipped candidates, capable of defeating any political opponent. She also stressed the need to avoid people with doubtful integrity. 

The minister also called for the adoption of a code of good electoral conduct and reconciliation, to bury past rivalries. “Where there were real rivals and enmity, let us make a clean slate,” she said.

She said Fako Division remains the strategic bastion of the CPDM, reiterating the need for incontestable victory for the ruling party at the upcoming twin polls.  

“We are not going to allow disorder to disrupt our resounding victory at the upcoming polls. The future of our area, as well as the socio-economic and institutional stability of Cameroon is at stake,” she added.

The unity of the CPDM, she explained, is pivotal to overcoming the growing strength of opposition forces, especially in urban areas of the Division like Tiko, Buea and Limbe.

Speaker after speaker at the meeting, took the firm commitment to work according to the strict directives of the Head of the Fako CPDM Central Committee Permanent Divisional Delegation, Prof Nalova Lyonga. This, they said, is to ensure the ruling party registers a resounding victory in Fako Division, in the upcoming twin polls.
